PRIVACY
What we keep
Fallmark is built to need almost nothing from you. You can play the whole game without an account, without giving a name, and without anything leaving your device except anonymous counts you can switch off (and, if you play online with a friend, your key presses on their way to them). This page says exactly what is kept, where, and for how long. Last reviewed 3 October 2026.
On your device
Your browser keeps, for this site only: your settings, the climb you are in the middle of (so it is where you left it), the scars your falls have left on the tower, your best height and time, the input record of your best run (so you can race it), and the date you last played. None of it is sent to us. Settings → Privacy → Clear this device removes all of it at once.
Clips are made on your device from the record of your run. They are never uploaded. A clip leaves your device only if you share or download it yourself.
On our server, only if you ask
If you choose to put your runs on the board, we keep:
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
A random code in a cookie (ar_p), and a scrambled copy of it on our side | To know that a run is yours without an account | Until you have not played for 400 days, or you press Forget me |
| A handle we made up for you, such as BRASS FALCON 41 | To show your runs on the board. Nobody can type a handle, so nobody can write on the board | As above |
| Your runs: the record of the keys you pressed, tick by tick, and the height, time and falls our server got when it replayed them | To verify every run before it counts, and to let others race your ghost | The numbers as above; the key record of an ordinary run 30 days, of your best run and any climb to the Crown as above |
Summit badges
When a verified climb reaches a tower's Crown, our server issues that tower's badge and lists it in a public register: its serial, the tower, the time, the number of falls, the date and the generated handle you had then. Anyone with the serial can check it at the badge register. If you add a name to your badge, it is drawn on your own device into the image you download; it is never sent to us. If you use Forget me, your badges stay in the register, because you may have given them to someone, but without your handle or any link to you or your runs.
Forget me (Menu → Board) erases your handle and every run from our server at once, and removes the cookie.
If you buy a pack
Payment is handled by Stripe, on Stripe's page. Stripe receives your card details and an email address for your receipt; we receive neither. We keep a record of the sale: the pack, the price, the date, Stripe's reference for the payment, your handle, the restore code, and the moment you confirmed you wanted it unlocked straight away. We keep it for six years, because the law requires business records to be kept that long. Forget me removes your handle from it. Stripe is responsible for what it holds under its own privacy notice at stripe.com/privacy.
Anonymous play counts
To make the game fairer and better we count things like how often people fall at each obstacle, how many leaps a session has, and whether a clip was made. These counts carry no name, no handle, no device identifier and no IP address, use no cookie, and are kept for 400 days. Two of them help us understand who the game reaches: the country your browser's time zone points to (your browser tells us, say, Europe/London; we keep only "United Kingdom" and never read your address), and whether this is the first visit from your device (your browser remembers that you have been before; we are not told who you are). You can switch all of this off in Settings → Privacy.
Playing with a friend online
When you play online, each game sends the keys you press to our server, and our server passes them straight to your friend's game, and theirs to yours. A room carries those, and the quick calls (as a number); no names and no typed words. A room exists only in our server's memory while it is open, and nothing about it is written down: not the keys, not your address, not who played. It closes when you leave, after 30 minutes if nobody uses the link, and after three hours at most. To let you come back after a reload, your browser keeps a key to your seat for that tab only, until the tab is closed.
Voice (adults only, and only when both of you switch it on) goes directly between your two devices, encrypted, and is never recorded by us or anyone we use. Our server passes only the technical set-up between your two browsers. When your two networks cannot connect directly, Cloudflare's relay passes the encrypted audio between you; it sees your two internet addresses but cannot listen to or keep the conversation. Your microphone is used only after you choose to turn voice on, and stops when you switch it off or leave. Cloudflare's notice is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Raising a concern
Beside every run on the board is REPORT: choose cheating if a run looks like a bot, or handle if a made-up name came out badly. We keep the run and the reason, never who raised it, and review every one by hand.
If you email us
Mail to support@playfallmark.com is received for us by Resend, our mail provider, and kept on our server as plain text with our reply: your address, the subject, what you wrote and when. Only the operator can read it, after an emailed sign-in and a password. We keep it for two years, then it is deleted; ask and we delete it sooner. Resend is responsible for what it holds under its own notice at resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.
What we never do
- No adverts, no advertising trackers, no social-media plug-ins, no third-party analytics.
- No profiling of how you feel. The game measures leaps and falls, not you.
- No contact details: we never ask for an email, a phone number or your contacts. (If you buy a pack, Stripe asks for an email for your receipt; it is Stripe's, not ours. If you write to us, we have the address you wrote from.)
- No sale of anything about you, to anyone.
Younger players
Fallmark is designed for players aged 12 and over. We do not ask anyone's age because we do not collect anything that would need it: the board is off until you turn it on, nobody can message anybody (online play passes only what your climber does, and only to a friend you let in), and the only things for sale are looks, bought through Stripe; we ask anyone under 18 to ask the bill payer first.
Who we are, and your rights
Fallmark is developed by ArcSystemsTechnology, which operates under ArcGabriel Ltd (registered in England and Wales, company number 17389329, Carlile Institute Business Centre, 54 Huddersfield Road, Meltham, Holmfirth HD9 4AE). ArcGabriel Ltd is the controller responsible for the data described here. Our grounds are your request (the board), and our legitimate interest in running a fair, secure game (anonymous counts, rate limits). You can ask us at support@playfallmark.com what we hold about you, have it erased (Forget me does this instantly), or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
The pages are served by our hosting provider, Railway, whose network sees your IP address to deliver them; we do not store it.
